چکیده
Meliponiculture (keeping stingless bees) is a practice that growing rapidly in the tropical and subtropical regions of world. A limited number studies regarding technique would be most accurate propagating colonies to increase their numbers. Three different artificial propagation techniques were investigated Ladang 10, Universiti Putra Malaysia. techniques, namely splitting, bridging, splitting conducted for eight consecutive weeks. Honey pot quantity pollen recorded weekly The success colony division under all parameters taken observed weekly. significant difference (F = 15.04, df 2, P <.0001) was detected pots between but not honey 0.22, 0.8054). bridging lowest while there no splitting-bridging techniques. result showed obtained new brood cells queen Heterotrigona itama. developed without queen, whereas produced only pots. matured queen’s presence can defeat due its pheromones function.

Nestmate recognition in the stingless bee Frieseomelitta varia (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini): sources of chemical signals
0003-3472 2010 The Association for the Study of A doi:10.1016/j.anbehav.2010.11.020 Social insects use cuticular lipids for nestmate recognition. These lipids are chiefly hydrocarbons that can be endogenously produced or acquired from the environment. Although these compounds are already described as coming from different sources for different groups of social insects, nothing is known about th...
متن کاملThe trail pheromone of a stingless bee, Trigona corvina (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini), varies between populations.
Stingless bees, like honeybees, live in highly organized, perennial colonies. Their eusocial way of life, which includes division of labor, implies that only a fraction of the workers leave the nest to forage for food. To ensure a sufficient food supply for all colony members, stingless bees have evolved different mechanisms to recruit workers to foraging or even to communicate the location of ...
متن کاملA new species of the stingless bee Trichotrigona (Hymenoptera: Apidae, Meliponini).
Trichotrigona camargoiana sp. nov. from Candeias do Jamari, Rondônia, Brazil is described and illustrated, along with nesting and behavior, as the second species of the rare and unusual genus Trichotrigona Camargo & Moure, 1983. The new species differs from T. extranea Camargo & Moure, 1983 by having plumose setae on the face and mesepisterna, wing setae predominantly yellow and black metatibia...

In the present study we compare genetic characteristics (allele diversity and observed heterozygosity) of microsatellite loci, from three stingless bee species (Plebeia remota Holmberg, Partamona mulata Moure In Camargo and Partamona helleri Friese), amplified by using heterospecific primers originally designed for Melipona bicolor Lepeletier and Scaptotrigona postica Latreille. We analyzed 360...
متن کاملRecruitment communication in stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini)
The stingless bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Meliponini) have evolved sophisticated communication systems that allow foragers to recruit nestmates to good resources. Over the past 50 years, a growing body of research has shown that foragers can communicate three-dimensional resource location, uncovered several potential communication mechanisms, and demonstrated new information transfer mechanisms....
